Our Story

Hey, ya’ll! We’ve been serving the families of Bayou Lafourche since 1964. Although our name has changed over the years, (from R&R, to H&R, to Double D, and now D&D Drive In), most things have stayed the same— like our locally famous chili recipe. While we are well-known for our addictive hot dogs and chili (you can’t just eat one- trust us), we also serve up homemade, diner-style burgers; milkshakes, malts, and sundaes of all kinds; mouthwatering, hand battered fried chicken; roast beef poboys; lots of various seafood offerings and so much more!

Our founder, Mr. Roland Ledet, served our great nation for six years as a platoon sergeant in the Korean War. Once he returned home from Korea, he peddled fruit and managed the local bowling alley before taking the opportunity of opening his own restaurant with his wife, Ruth.

Years later, Mr. Roland’s son, David Ledet, took ownership of the restaurant. He and his wife, Darlene, now own and manage D&D. David and Darlene’s daughter, Erin, along with her husband, Adam, also help to manage the family-owned restaurant. They will be the third generation of D&D.

We’re proud to have served Bayou Lafourche over the years, and we really enjoy seeing our customers at the windows. (And we’d like to think they enjoy seeing us, too.) We’ve been mentioned in magazines, and we’ve even appeared on the History Channel.

We, like the rest of our community, love a good meal, and that’s what we strive to provide here for you, our customers. Stop by for a quick bite or grab a table in our dining room and sit for a while!
